Over the Hallowe’en and Bonfire Night period, police officers will be operating a zero tolerance approach to anti-social behaviour and will be using the following police powers to minimise any disruption to the local community: Public Order Act, Fireworks Act and Criminal Damage Act.
Gwent Police Corporate Communications department has also designed Hallowe’en posters to put up in your windows if you do not wish to be disturbed by ‘trick or treaters’ on October 31. These will be distributed to vulnerable households over the coming weeks. They can also be obtained via your local neighbourhood team or downloaded online at www.gwent.police.uk.
In addition, the Rogerstone neighbourhood policing team is looking for volunteers to help set up youth clubs in the area to give children something to do outside school hours now the nights are starting to draw in.
PC Mark Ruddick said: “Giving young people something to do after school can only be positive. They can meet friends and make new ones in a relaxed environment and take part in structured supervised activities, often learning new skills.”
